Winter

Skiing/Snowboarding

The high-speed quad lifts of Hanazono are a quick walk from Freedom Inn’s front door.  Located on the north face of Mt. Annupuri, Hanazono offers the deepest and freshest powder on the mountain.  Connecting seamlessly with all 38 lifts of the Niseko United unified ski area, Hanazono is the pastoral gateway to diverse terrain and some of the best powder snow on the planet. Equipment Rentals

Equipment rentals and shops are nearby in the Hanazono base village, where every need can be attended to a quick walk away. Lessons are offered at the ski school in multiple languages for beginners and intermediates while experts can access professional back-country guides to discover the local’s favorite untracked runs.

Snowshoeing & Cross-Country Skiing

The entire Niseko area is a snowy wonderland. At various scenic points in the Annpurui-Yotei basin, an exhilarating day can be enjoyed quietly trekking on top of the high drifts of snow. You can rent snowshoes directly from Freedom Inn or join one of the tours offered by one of the outdoor adventure companies in Niseko. Nordic skiers can quietly glide through the blanketed woods surrounding Freedom Inn and then glide just as easily back to settle by the fireplace and enjoy a hot chocolate. Further afield, groomed courses and lessons are offered by Niseko Adventure Center .

Snowmobiling

Tear up the powder (don’t worry, more is always on the way) and tour the countryside with one of the many snowmobile rental operations in the Niseko area, including a quick hop from Freedom Inn at the Hanazono Adventure Park.

Horseback Riding

A leisurely and romantic lope through the quiet forests at the base of Mt. Annupuri affords a relaxing way to commune with winter’s quiet presentation of nature. Niseko Joba Village near the Higashiyama Resort offers horseback rides all year round with horse-drawn sleigh rides a favorite for kids.
